Yogini-bear

I was trying to sneak in some yoga and pilates in this hectic mama life of mine. Well, it didn't quite work out well one particular morning.
Someone decided to take over my mat. Hers is the purple one.
But hey, she can do the downward dog.

Maya's rides

Here's Maya's collection of "hotrods". The newest acquisition is the bike. It was actually an exchange. I took her yesterday to the local toy store and the goal was to look for a tricyle. I looked over the sample tricycles on the floor and scanned the boxes they came in. The one I got did not have a floor sample, but the picture on the box looked okay. So I dumped it in the cart and I rushed out of there to get the toddler home to her much needed nap. I took everything out of the box and I put all the million pieces together while the bear napped. Our living room looked like a pink bomb went off. I'm proud to say that I was able put it all together and it actually resembled the picture on the box. Her dad came in to check on the progress of the assembly and shot me one look: Ugh. Truth is I felt the same way. It's...too pretty and...pink.

It's all lavender and pink with white wheels and princess and butterflies stickers all over it. It came with a princess pouch that you can strap on the handlebars, pink water bottles, and a princess canopy. It could probably pass for a mini Disney float. Maya woke up and checked it out and rode it (sorta) around the living room. She wasn't too impressed by it I could tell. It was just took frilly and princessy for our household. So this morning we went back to the toy store and exchanged it for a basic Radio Flyer bicycle. Maya loves it and because it's seriously easier to maneuver. We did keep the lavender princess helmet though. Lessons learned: Never shop with a cranky toddler and keep it simple, people.

Day at the Getty

We went to the Getty Center this past weekend with Maya's Gramma Rosa. The Getty Center currently has an exhibit called "Ten Years in Focus: The Artist and the Camera". 'Ama teaches photography so this was a perfect time to take her. While the adults were enjoying the art, Maya had fun running around in the garden. She's especially facinated by the water features. Oh and the stairs. She loves stairs. It was a beautiful day and the lighting conditions were perfect for some photography.

She loves stairs.
She could stay here for awhile just staring at the water.

My cousin

I have a new cousin. Her name is Kayla. She's doing very well and is very happy to finally meet her mommy and daddy. She sleeps a lot right now, but I look forward to playing with her when she wakes up. Welcome Kayla!
