Surf's Up

Maya's learning to surf...on a pack of diapers. The instructor behind her is a skater-boi. Not sure if this is such a good idea...Coo-coo-ca-choo, dude!

Doing nothing

There are moments when doing nothing is good.

We pile in the sofa corner and hang out. Well, I guess that's doing something...

Then we make up stories about a plastic dinosaur complaining about Charlie's breath. "Roaaarr - *cough* *cough* GEEZ, Charlie! Whaddya eat?!!"

Circles

Maya likes circles.
She got carried away and drew on herself.
Oh look! A rollie-pollie! Keeping with the theme.
It felt threatened by Charlie so it stayed like that for awhile.

little birdie

"Rest in peace, little birdie."
~June 12, 2008

Maya and her dad found a baby bird this morning in the backyard. Fed it this evening with a few grains of rice and drops of water. Not sure if the little birdie will survive. Looks like it's only a couple of days old. It's in a shoe box next to me and it crying for its mommy as I type this. =(

Dad and daughter team rescued it before it became Charlie's mid-morning snack. "Hi bur-die. Okay, okay bur-die."
She still looked sad as she looked over her book before bedtime.

Solitude

Stéphane Grappelli playing in the background, cup of tea, favorite candle burning, a book...a much needed break.

Big Trees, Part II: More road adventures

My husband and I took turns driving. So the non-driving parent is the designated toddler entertainer. Two different styles:

With mom: Rotated playing with educational toys and looking through picture books, sang songs with Elmo, and the "buddies" performed a couple of dance numbers.

With dad: Threw blankets around, blew spit bubbles, played with food, and pretended they're Wolverine...then the toddler Wolverine and daddy Wolverine ate the "foot claws" afterwards. GIggles all around. Sounds more fun, doesn't it?
Inside a sequoia tree.

Uh-oh, sand in the toesies.

Toesies drying in the sun.

She's going though a "Linus" stage right now...

Hmmm, are we on top of Moro Rock yet?

She also likes steering wheels at the moment.
And tries to climb over to the front of the car when parked. Vrooooom, beep-beep!
