Lola's Birthday

It was Lola's birthday last Friday.  We went to the Orange County Fair to celebrate the day.
 We went on several rides.

 Bumper cars!
My mom got conned into getting a fish by Auntie.  Suddenly she found herself shooting ping-pong balls among the little fish bowls at the fair.  And she walked off with a...fish.  So, there you go.  I got another fish.  Remember my first fish, Sally?  Well, she's been resting in peace under our vegetable garden for a while now.
We had a late lunch/early dinner at a local Italian place we frequent called Maria's Kitchen.  After that, we got Lola a triple berry cheese cake from Whole Foods.
 Yay!
 The girls.
 Lolo and Lola
Ladies and gentlemen, my new fish Blueberry.
Happy Birthday, Lola!
I love you!

My new cousin

This weekend, my Auntie Arlene gave birth to my new cousin.
Here she is with her daddy, Uncle Paul (my daddy's brother).
Hey world, please meet my new cousin, Eva Sugeil.

CONGRATULATIONS
UNCLE PAUL AND AUNTIE ARLENE!
Looking forward to meeting you, Eva!

Chaos

My mom asked me to go through my toys this weekend.  My job was to sort my toys out in two piles: Ones that I want to keep and the ones that I don't want to play with anymore.  Well, during the course of going through my stuff, I ran out of fuel.  So I stopped.  This is what my mom found when she checked on me.  See if you can find me in the rubble.
My mom sure didn't see me at first.

Seal Beach

 Beach time!

Ssshhhhh, daddy's napping.  I found four ways to cuddle with him.  First, I sat on on his tummy.  He's like a Papasan chair sometimes. Get it? Pa-pa-san chair?  Ha-ha-ha...nevermind.
And the others are just variations of cuddling with the daddy.
Hey birdie!  Do you want some chips?
Chillin' and trying to dry up after playing in the water.  So we closed the umbrella for sun.
All dry now. Let's open it again for shade.  Then daddy flew our kite.
I wish I could fly like a kite sometimes.
We stayed almost through sunset.  It was a very relaxing day.

Ballerina Archer

I'm practicing my archery skills at home.  I have to wear my tutu though.
It gives me more girl power.
I'm practicing my aim.
Sometimes, I just want to aim it at something else.  Like for example, I shoot the arrows through one of the 'triangles' in my jungle gym in the background.  Or sometimes, I like to aim at moving targets.  Like our dog, for example....I'm just kidding. Or not.

Putting things in Perspective

I was tired when I came home from summer camp. We went to Knott's Berry Farm today, so it was sort of a tiring day.  When we came home, I was a little cranky. Made bratty demands at my mom and stuff.  But my mom had none of it.  She ignored me and she went outside to water her veggies.  When she came back in, she found me in my room in full blown crying melt down.  She calmly walked in my room, stood there, and we had this conversation:

ME: WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH*gasp*WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH*gasp* huhuhuhu....

MOMMY: So what are we crying about?

ME:  WaaaaahhAAAAAAAAAAAAA*gasp* waaaahhhh

MOMMY: Did you lose a toe?

ME: (shook my head) Waaaaaaaaaahh

MOMMY: Did you find a starving kid sitting by a street?

ME: (shook my head) Waaaaahh, sniffle, sniffles...

MOMMY: Did a dog get hit by a car?

ME: (shook my head) No...sniffles.

MOMMY: Did a kid get hurt badly? Did someone die? Lose their house? Lose their parents? Hit by a tsunami?  Any of those?

ME: (shook my head slowly)...sniffle.

MOMMY: Oh ok. Soooo...why are we crying now?

ME: (wiped my tears and had totally stopped crying now) I just wanted...toast.

MOMMY: (laughed out loud like a maniac and then she calmly spoke) Oh alright, I can make you toast.  Is that it?

Me: (nods my head)

Then just like that she quietly walked out of my room.  My mom can put things in perspective real quick.

July 4th Recap

Our July 4th was spent at home.  My auntie and Kayla came over to celebrate with us.  We played in the blow up pool, while our moms....
....well, our moms...were making faces at daddy.  I think they ate took much food and are taking a break here.
We put up our tent for a backyard camping sleep over.  A view from Charlie's perspective.
Done with the pool.  On with the tent.
Ta-dah! It's up.  So Kayla and I spent the rest of the afternoon playing in it before the fireworks began.
Fireworks are legal in our city so there was plenty to see from our backyard.
Here's a twisty sparkler fireball from Kayla.
 My auntie's initial.
And my mom's.
The night ended with more fireworks and a backyard camping sleep over.
I hope you had a nice and enjoyable 4th.

Warm n' Lazy Summer Day

It's a nice day today.  We had a simple alfresco lunch under our tree.
This is our tree.  It provides us much needed shade on warm days like this.
Just lounging with my mom and dad.
 Even Charlie was feeling lazy.
Oh, of course there's gotta be a challenge somewhere.  I play magnetic darts in between lounging and eating. I'm getting pretty good at it.
  I'm gonna play again.
Ssshhhhh.. Siesta time for the birthday boy.  He turned 6 this week.
Happy Birthday, good ol' buddy!

Office Visit

My mom took me to her work today.
I like writing on her white board.  It looks so boring with just a list of her team projects.
I also made a mess on her desk next to her paperwork.  She didn't mind since she was concentrating hard on finishing up a report.

I love going to my mom's work.  It's one of the few things I'm willing to wake up early in the morning to do.

Rebirth of Crayons

I've accumulated a bunch of paper work and projects in Kindergarten.  We took those home and also our school supplies at our desks.  That means a bunch of used broken crayons.
What to do, what to do....ah!  Let's recycle them!
My mom and I went to IKEA and found these ice trays.  Perfect for molding melted crayons.  We grouped the broken crayons by color (or close enough).  We tried melting them under the hot sun, but they only got soft.  So, my mom melted them in a container on our stove and poured the melted crayons into the mold.
After a day of waiting, voila!  New crayon sticks.

30 hours in Vegas

This weekend was a little hectic. We attended my cousin Christian and Christine's wedding in Las Vegas where they live. We left at 7pm on Friday and arrived in Vegas at midnight.  I wasn't feeling too well. I had a sore throat and by midnight I had a slight fever.  It was rough night with lots of tossing and turning, whining, coughing, and drifting in and out of sleep.
I was okay in the morning and we prepared to attend the church wedding. Lolo and Lola were with us too.  We snagged Lola while she was getting ready for a quick picture.
Here's us at church. My cousin Kayla was a flower girl and I saw her walk in the wedding procession.  It was a beautiful.  After a short while, I fell asleep in my mom's arms because I was so tired. Good thing there was time between the wedding and the reception.
By the time we got back to our room, I had a full blown fever which was probably around 103 degrees. I don't know was caused it.  I was on Tylenol and cough meds and took a long nap with two cool wet towels on my forehead and body.  In the meantime, my cousin wasn't doing well either.  She threw up the night before, bumped her chin on the table before the church wedding, and was just tired.  I woke up later in the afternoon and my fever broke.  I felt much better.  My mom cooked mac n' cheese for me and Kayla for a late lunch.
I went over to auntie's room to see how Kayla's doing.  She was doing okay too.  My auntie took this picture.  We take good pictures, don't we? Even with slightly glazed eyes.  We then prepared for the evening reception.
Here's us making our way to the tent on the golf course. It probably was 108 degrees. But both Kayla and I were feeling better and were very excited.
I brought my doll to keep me company.
Daddy, me, and Kayla took a stroll around the golf course while waiting for the reception to start.  We saw bunnies hopping around.
A napkin with the bride and groom's name.
My beautiful cousins. (photo by Mariel)
Photo booth time!
Gettin' nutty at the party.
Scene from the outside.  I like the glowing bar and side tables.
The mamas and us.
 Watching another kid go nuts.
Kayla and I were both exhausted by the end of the night.  But we managed to squeeze in a walk on the Vegas strip to watch the water show at the Bellagio.  (no small feat doing this with children on a busy Saturday night.) Although Kayla and I were sickish, everything went relatively well. Our parents were exhausted too, juggling the schedules, driving all around in the heat, tending to sick kids, and keeping everyone fed and hydrated.
Whatta weekend!  But we had fun!

Congratulations to Christian and Christine on their wedding day!
Wishing you a lifetime of happiness and joy!
