Easter 2011

It's Easter Sunday today.  After church, we went to Auntie Rowen's home for our annual Easter celebration.
Cousins. We miss Jacob.  We hope to see you soon!
Cousins in Easter basket hats and Uncle Peter as...wait for it...Peter Rabbit.  Taa-dah!
Some mommy time. Lemme go!
Our loot from the egg hunt.
Chocolate, why of course!
We were taking pictures and Kayla started opening Easter eggs.  Leanne and I started barking military-style orders at her not to open them.  She started crying and asking for her mom.  I have to admit we were were kinda harsh.  But then someone yelled "smile" and she smiled.  Sorry, Kayla, for being a little mean to you.
As the adults stuffed themselves with lots of food, us girls passed time by taking turns chucking Leanne's Barbies up at the lemon tree.  That was fun.
Then this happened.  Oh well, it's so much fun, we kept doing it and asking adults to retrieve the dolls.
Portrait of cousins.  Nicole and Dana couldn't be here with us because they're stuck up north finishing up their semester in college.  We missed them. Mike was sad because he either was missing his sister, Dana, or because he had a not-so-great egg hunt.  I think it's the latter.
We had what my cousins call the Egglympics.
First game of the Egglympics is the egg hunt.  One for the little ones and one for the big cousins.  The one for the big cousins can resemble the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. Once in a while there is a scuffle or wrestling with lots of laughing involved. So we get out of the way.  No one got hurt today, so that's good.  Then after that, we had an egg painting contest. Mine is the pink one with two flower stickers on it. All of these are great works of art, but mine has an understated elegance to it.  Yeah?  We also had an egg eating contest.  Alyssa won again for the third straight year.  She ate three hard-boiled eggs in seconds. Congrats!  Then the moms did it too.  My mom participated, but Alyssa's mom won. I guess it runs in the family.

HAPPY EASTER!

Whale Watching

We went whale watching today.
There were dolphins racing our boat.  It's was cool.
When you see a group of seagulls, there's usually dolphins and sea lions feeding as well. We did see dolphins and seal lions  popping up to check us out.
We saw a two gray whales. A mama and a baby one migrating from Mexico to Alaska.
See that flat spot? That's a whale "footprint".  The mama whale dove down from that spot.
I kept myself busy on the boat by walking around and reading books.
I was also balancing as the boat went through choppy waves.  It's like riding a roller coaster.  Woo-hoo!!
It was really cold out there.  None of us got sea sick, but there were a few people barfing in the back. I hope they felt better when we got off.

Eat Bugs Much?

Do you know what I like to watch?
Yes, I like to watch this show because Andrew Zimmern is such a cool dude.

He travels around the world and he eats unusual food from different countries.  AND he eats bugs! Do you see these grubs on Andrew's spoon?  My job in our veggie patch is to look for these guys, scoop them up, and throw them away.  In other countries, they actually eat them.  Weird, huh?  I learn about different cultures from his show while learning different kinds of food.  Check it out on Travel Channel.

Bamboo

My mom and I went to the Los Angeles Arboretum today.  We observed the wild life peeking from the pond.  Listened to the calls of the peacocks and the munching of several squirrels.  After walking around, we took a break and sat on a bench near a bamboo grove.  I noticed that there were chopped off bamboo branches on the ground.  I guess they were thinning the grove a little bit.  As my mom sat and ate my Goldfish crackers, I headed over to the branches and started moving them into neater piles.
 Here's one.
 Here's another.
 Why is this here?
 Pull this one over there.
Arrgh, c'mon move! Ah, yup there you go.
Okay, that's it. I'm tired.  I hope my mom left me some Goldfish crackers...

75th Year

My Lolo turned 75 years old this weekend.
We had a celebration...
 with our family.
Here's my Lola along with some of my Lolo's sisters.  I have a bunch of lolas.
Cheers to my cousin Leanne.
We were having fun...
along with Kayla in the makeshift kiddie corner.
My mom brought puzzles, coloring books, stickers, and our dolls to entertain us.
Kayla was having a blast chasing balloons.
Everyone was pretty full from the champagne brunch buffet.  Mmmm...
Time to make a wish and blow the candles!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LOLO!!!
Here's to good health and happiness.
I love you!

Garden Prep

Today I helped my mom prep our veggie patch for our seedlings.
Here's an old eggplant plant to be transplanted in a pot for now.  Have you seen a cauliflower gone wild? If not, see second picture.

Garden pose.

I like helping my mom in the garden.  It's a good excuse to get dirty.
