Father's Day 2013

This is the day my daddy said he'll be there for me forever.
Protecting me in my sleep.
and  when he's washing dishes in his underwear.
and also when he's trying to do some work at home.
He sees the world through my eyes.
Even when they are closed.
You taught me how to swim.
You taught me how to ride my bike without training wheels in 10 minutes.
You taught me how to do armpit farts.
You taught me how to play video games.
You taught me how to play frisbee.
You taught me how to hang a spoon on my nose.
You taught me how to jump on the bed and make a mess.
We look for good parks with playgrounds to trespass in.
Every morning you wake me up for school. You already have my bowl and spoon laid out the night before ready to be filled with the cereal  of my choice in the morning.
You take me to school and I climb on your back and we race across the grassy field to make the school bell.
We laugh together.  Hard.
You never complain when I want a piggy back ride or if I wanted to be carried.
You taught me how to be adventurous.
Never judging, never putting me down, just correcting and encouraging me along through my mistakes and faults.
You encourage me to climb higher and higher in the climber.  You push me higher and higher in a swing.  In your eyes, there are no limits and I can aim as high and as far as I want.  I close my eyes as the wind blows through my hair knowing that you'll always be there cheering me on no matter what.
You're my bestest buddy in the world.
I am grateful to have a dad like you.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DADDY!
I love you!

Domestic Violence

Not all things are flowers and butterflies in the world.  Bad things happen to good people.  Someone very close to us recently experienced domestic violence.
Here's my mom's blog about it:

Running Races

I love going to my mom's races.  It's a mini vacation for our family.  We get to to spend time at a hotel and explore the host city.  This time we went to San Diego.  My mom ran the San Diego Rock n' Roll Half Marathon.
Here's me waiting for my lunch at Spaghetti Factory.  Where do you keep your spoon when you're waiting for lunch?
After lunch, we explored the city and saw and found some interesting things.
Like this utilitarian-looking playground.  I LOVE this stuff.  I played while my parents watched in a shady corner digesting their lunch.
We met up with Grandpa, Grandma Audrey, and Uncle Paul for dinner.  We had a nice time in Old Town San Diego. So many things to see and explore.
Here's my mama after her race.

Strange Things

My Lola is amusing.  She picks me up on Thursdays from school.  She also comes over our place when we're out of town to check on Charlie.  She always does something quirky with my toys that I observe later after she leaves. Here are a couple of examples:
 Um, what's up Orange-haired baby?
Oh hello, skirt-head mannequin with pipe cleaner handbag.

Catching Up

Hey you! It's been awhile since I had an update.  We've been very busy lately.  So here are some pictures from some happenings in my life.

**************
We saw a movie (forgot which one), but in the theater lobby they had this! Whack-a-minion! So cool!
"Grrrrr, I'm Wolverine's daughter.  Do not touch my dinner or I will harm you with these menacing-looking crayon claws."
Oh yeah, my mom did her graduation walk for her Masters In Public Administration degree.
She has a few more weeks of school, wrapping it up, but her class got to walk to mark the (almost) end of their program.  She sure put a lot of work into this.  Good news is I get her back on Thursday nights.  For the last two years, she's been missing out on my back to school nights and other school events that they so happen to put on Thursday nights.
Standing by a canon holding random sticks I picked up during our walk.
Did I tell you I like climbing and hanging off things? This canon is no exception.
I met some new friends too, Sophie and her sister Elise.
 They're such cutie pies.
They're my mom's friend, Joy's kids.  My mom and Joy have not seen each other for over ten years.  They finally met again with 3 kids between them.
